June 1, 2018 – Psalm 19:1-2
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. Psalm 19:1-2.
The reason for the joy of being outside is often unknown. The hikes in the woods, fishing in a nearby stream, the mountain to climb all bring us to a place where we can see the heavens proclaiming the glory of God. We call these activities leisure time. Yet, communing with God and his glorious canvas of color we call the heavens, speak to us.
The farmer searches the skies for rain during a drought. The gardener watches the seasons for the right time to plant. The weather forecaster follows a science to predict the weather. Yet, only God controls all the elements to make crops grow and produce.
Why are camps designed to be away from the hustle and buzz of the everyday life? Why was David a shepherd as a youth, as God prepared him to be King? I will sing of the Lord’s unfailing love forever! Young and old will hear of your faithfulness. Your unfailing love will last forever. Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens. Psalm 89:1-2.
The words two men spoke after Jesus was taken up to the skies… Acts 1:11 – “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday He will return from heaven in the same way you saw Him go!”
Psalm 19 ends with these words, a prayer for His People who love Him – May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. Psalm 19:3-4.
