July 4, 2017 – Revelation 21:5-6

And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. Revelation 21:5-6.

“What’s new?” we ask our friends, expecting an answer that will entertain our minds for a moment.  We think of how we long for the ‘new’.   We want a new house, a new paint job in the house, new appliances, new clothes in the closet, a new car to drive, or a new recipe to give us a new taste.

God reveals to John what is new and tells him to record this truth for us to read.  God is the beginning and the end…  A true eternal “NEW” is created by our Lord God. The ‘new’ man makes can be stolen, grows old with wear or ages through rust and decay.

How can we inherit this blessing of newness ? This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.  2 Corinthians 5:17-18.

Dear Lord God, Make me a new creature, for You are my God, and I am your child.  May your love and kindness be reflected in all I do and say!  Help me to hold your hand and walk with you in this life and be victorious in following you only!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. Revelation 21:7.
