July 16, 2018 – Psalm 33:1-3

Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord; it is fitting for the pure to praise him. Praise the Lord with melodies on the lyre; make music for him on the ten-stringed harp. Sing a new song of praise to him; play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy. Psalm 33:1-3.

Who are the godly? God sets the godly apart and surrounds them with His shield of love.  Godly people are true heroes; they sing to the Lord and praise His holy name. The godly sing a new song to the Lord, for His mercies are new each day.

The new songs of praise are played skillfully and sung with joy for the Word of the Lord holds true. God loves whatever is just and good!

The instruction for young Timothy from Apostle Paul includes these words in I Timothy 6:11-12 – But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.

Perseverance, Patience, and Trust guide us along the pathway of life that leads to our Lord God Almighty.  Just as we falter and grow weary, we read the following, assuring verses to encourage and give us the strength to continue on in life.

The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.  Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.  Psalm 37:23-24

For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does. He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth. Psalm 33:4-5.
