July 15, 2019 – Joshua 1:6-8
“Be strong and courageous, for You shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:6-8.
Could anyone take the place of Moses, as the leader of the people of Israel? God chose Joshua. After Moses died, God had a talk with Joshua, giving him instructions to carry on for the promises to His Chosen People would be the same. God’s command included to Be Strong and Courageous.
There are many ways to be strong and courageous. There are many reasons why we are called to be courageous. There is only One who provides true courage and strength. Whatever He calls us to do, He will equip us. It is when we obey His Commands, meditate day and night on His Words, He strengthens us to face any foe.
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
