July 11, 2018 – Psalm 29:4-7

The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf; He makes Mount Hermon leap like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes with bolts of lightning. Psalm 29:4-7.

Do you hear the voice of God? The power and might of God’s voice created the world we live in and the heavens that holds the moon and stars by night and the sun by day.  Whenever a star falls from its place, or when the wind’s ferocious speed destroys where we live, we quake in fear.  Man can measure an earthquake, but not forecast its coming.

We see a mountain towering in the distance and it seems immovable. Yet, our world is shaken when we see a huge boulder careen down to crash to a pathway.   The voice of God speaks all around us in bolts of lightning as His creation creaks and groans around us. Are we listening?  Do we hear? Do know our Lord’s voice and His Presence?

Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. Psalm 27:13-14.  How difficult it is to wait when everything around us says “DO!”  It is belonging to our Lord God that brings us Joy and we shout, “Glory!”

And we will sing with the saints and angels, We shall behold Him, Face to face in all of His glory, Face to face, our Savior and Lord!

The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In His Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!” Psalm 29:8-9.
