January 5, 2018 – Titus 2:12-13
And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. Titus 2:12-13
Turn. What an interesting word. Turn, change direction, change the purpose in our lives. At times we make a half a turn, putting the change in part of our life. Whatever our hope is, we do everything to gain it.
Our world is evil and surrounds us. The world is incapable of giving us hope. The only way we can find the joy of Hope is given in these verses…and all emanate from God Himself through Wisdom, Righteousness, and Devotion to God. God is our strength. He is Truth. God is Wisdom.
The Hope we live for, comes from Jesus Christ, our Lord. John 3:16 begins, God so loved the world…He gave His Only Begotten Son. This is our hope! Why? It continues…that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
When Jesus came to this earth, He became our standard for sinless living. Jesus gave his life to free us from every sin and make us His people. People who are committed to live for Him.
Why did Jesus come? John 3:17 tells us, For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Just as we know a tree by its fruit, so we can tell a person by the fruit, their deeds, they accomplish. Galatians 5:22-23 gives us evidence of the fruit of the Holy Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and Self-Control.
He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. Titus 2:14
