January 4, 2016 – 2 Thessalonians 1:11
So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. 2 Thessalonians 1:11
Every day we make choices of how to respond to others and life-changing choices of how to spend our time. As I read these two verses over and over, I realize what a gift we receive when someone spends time praying for us.One more time – the content of the prayer-pleadings to God to help us live a life that is worthy. Worthy – not in our own eyes, but worthy in the eyes of our Lord Jesus Christ.
His power is true power, and He alone helps, equips, provides the tools and abilities we need to do good things in this life as He prompts us or moves us to do.When our choices honor the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are also honored. I have heard the name – Lord Jesus Christ – all my life, and NOW, I understand the term, LORD. One who has power or authority or control over others. Obedience and honor are due to our Lord. What we do is not really up for a vote, although God allows us to choose. Learning to walk with Him is the key to a great relationship.
While in high school, I walked with a boyfriend on a sidewalk. I kept bumping into him. He looked annoyed. I began to realize that relationships succeed only when we walk together, not colliding in purpose and goals. How can this kind of relationship be possible? Walking in the loving grace of our God AND Lord Jesus Christ.
Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:12
