January 29, 2020 – John 15:12-15

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.”  John 15:12-15.

What was Jesus thinking when He was nailed to the cross?  Who was Jesus thinking about?   He thought about you as He was scourged by the whip.  He thought about you as He was nailed to the cross. You and I have no greater friend than Jesus who lay down His life for us because He chose us.

He has given us good things, fruit, that we may be and do to show we love one another.  When we ask the Father in the name of Jesus, He may give it to us.  Why?  So that we will love one another and be the friend of Jesus.  We will love like Jesus loves and keep His appointment to bear good fruit.

Did you hear something the last time you felt as if no one cared for you? The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty One who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, He may give it to you. These things I command you so that you will love one another. John 15:16-17.
