January 28, 2019 – Hebrews 5:7-8
While Jesus was here on earth, He offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the One who could rescue Him from death. And God heard His prayers because of His deep reverence for God. Even though Jesus was God’s Son, He learned obedience from the things He suffered. Hebrews 5:7-8.
We try to escape discomfort or suffering. We go to any length, including pitiful wailing and whining. Yet, Jesus talked to His Father in Heaven in prayer. The relationship between Jesus and His Father God shows us what our relationship with God can be. One of prayer to God, deep reverence for God, and the humility to obey Him
Jesus is our mediator, our link to God. He is our Teacher. When we communicate the Grace of God by praying for someone or sharing a cup of water, we become a mediator. Genesis 14:19 – Priest-king Melchizedek offered a special blessing to Abram. King Melchizedek: May Abram be blessed by the Most High God, Creator of the heavens and earth.
Jesus taught, “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:19-20.
God gifted us with life and the means to live on this earth. Then He gave us His Son Jesus. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17.
In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and He became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey Him. And God designated Him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 5:9-10.
