January 18, 2017 – I Corinthians 13:11-12
When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. 1 Corinthians 13:11-12
As children, we have not matured to know cause and effect. When we try to look into a burning trash barrel or stick a skate key into an electric socket, or try to ‘fly’ off a tall ladder. We do not understand the consequences. So it is in our spiritual life – we do not understand that God know our every movement, the number of hair on our heads, and what we said, yesterday and what we will say tomorrow. Yet, God loves us and when we sin He forgives us through Jesus Christ. The blood Jesus shed on the cross is the price He paid for our salvation. When we believe, we are always His people. When I look into a spiritual mirror, will it reflect a believing heart? Will it show that my sins are forgiven? Will it show accepting the will of Christ humbly? Or will it reflect compartments set aside with a place for God so He does not have access to my whole heart? God wants complete submission of my whole heart.

When I look into a spiritual mirror and wonder, will it reflect a believing heart? Will it show that my sins are forgiven? Will it show accepting the will of Christ humbly? Or will it reflect compartments set aside with a place for God so He does not have access to my whole heart? God wants complete submission of my whole heart.
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
