February 7, 2018 – I John 5:10-11

Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the greater testimony that comes from God. And God has testified about his Son. All who believe in the Son of God know in their hearts that this testimony is true. Those who don’t believe this are actually calling God a liar because they don’t believe what God has testified about his Son. And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. I John 5:10-11.

Great emphasis is given to telling the truth in our country. In our courts, swearing to tell the truth by placing our hand on God’s Word is highly regarded.  Why is this human testimony  accepted as truth, but not the testimony of God’s Word?

Believing God’s word is more than tradition.  Sifting through His Word, and accepting parts, but denying other parts as impossible, is not in our realm of ability.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.  If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! John 14:6-7.

Our lives, our actions, and our words give testimony to what we consider truth. When we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, we have eternal life, and we are new creatures in Him. If we do not believe in Jesus, we have cut ourselves from eternal life.

Philippians 1:6 – And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. I John 5:12-14.
