February 6, 2018 – John 3:14-15
And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life. John 3:14-15.
What captures your time and your heart more than anything else? Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Matthew 6:21. What do you lift up, look up to, or desire the most in this world?
Is there a bronze serpent or a lifeless idol in your life? Or is it Jesus Christ you lift up? Any one who quotes this verse or understands the immense depth of love pouring out can understand the crucifixion, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is all about LOVE of the deepest kind! We cannot understand or fathom this God-Love, that embodies an intense forgiveness and caring. Can you understand our Father God, who sent his Son to the world to save us, not to judge us, but simply believe in Jesus?
It is when we make Jesus our only Love, not one of many, proves we believe in Him and live only for Him. Kyle Idleman writes, “There is no salvation without surrender. There is no life without death. There is no believing without committing.” Not a Fan.
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 2 Corinthians 4:7-8.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17.
