February 28, 2019 – I Timothy 1:17

All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen One who never dies; He alone is God.  Amen. I Timothy 1:17.

Timothy received teaching from Apostle Paul about the One true God.  Apostle Paul, who once persecuted Christians, encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus.  (Acts 9:3b-5).  A light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. and Paul fell to the ground. He heard a voice asking, Saul, why are you persecuting me? Saul asked, “Who are you, Lord?”

“I am Jesus, the One you are persecuting! Get up and go to the city, and you will be told what to do!”  Saul was blinded, and led to Damascus.  Saul’s name was changed to Paul, after he was baptized.  His life changed, and he began to serve God. Teaching and Preaching Jesus Christ.  He suffered mightily.  He was beaten with rods, whipped, pelted with stones, and shipwrecked three times.  2 Corinthians 11:23- 29 tells more.

This man counseled Timothy. Verse 2, I Timothy 1. I am writing to Timothy, my true son in the faith. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace. Verse 5 – The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.  Verses 12 and14 speak of Praise.  I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve Him. Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 11:6a. And it is impossible to please God without faith

Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.  I Timothy 1:19.
