February 20, 2020 – Isaiah 40:10-11
The Lord, the Eternal, comes with power, with unstoppable might; He will take control without question or delay. He will see to it that wages are paid, repairs are made, and all is set right again. He will feed His fold like a shepherd. He will gather together His lambs—the weak and the wobbly ones—into His arms. He will carry them close to His bosom, and tenderly lead like a shepherd the mother of her lambs. Isaiah 40:10-11.
How often we cringe at things left undone, a display of anger, or an injustice. Those who are weak and smaller suffer at the hands of those more powerful. What does the Word say? For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. I Corinthians 14:33. Some versions use the word, order.
The scene above is one of peace. What does the Shepherd do? He cares for the lamb tenderly like a mother. At the last of the chapter, we find a description by Isaiah the Lord and Creator of all the earth and all living creatures. Our Lord is so powerful that He gives power to those who are weak.
For you are great and do wondrous things; You alone are God. Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name. Psalm 86:10-11.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. John 13:34. Peace and Order comes only through loving like Jesus.
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength. Isaiah 40:28-29.
