February 20, 2018 – 1 John 5:5
And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I John 5:5.
What does it take to believe Jesus is the Son of God? Trust in the hard parts of life. Taking up the Cross of Jesus, and no matter what, to believe in Him.
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:10-13.
This war is spiritual. This war is not a video game to play to entertain us. This is a life or death battle for our souls.
There are three witnesses to the truth of Jesus Christ, water – through baptism. The blood of the sacrifice of Jesus. And the Holy Spirit, who is a true testimony. Whom will you believe, Jesus or the world?
And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross—not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony. So we have these three witnesses. I John 5:6-7.
