February 18, 2019 – Ephesians 3:19

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:19.

How often hindsight helps us understand and realize each traumatic life-experience is really a gift of love from Jesus Christ.

Mother once told me in the last years of her life,  that God tested her faith.  Not understanding, I disagreed with her, thinking tests came just in school.  Now I understand.

Therefore, it was necessary for Him to be made in every respect like us, His brothers and sisters, so that He could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then He could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. Since He Himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested. Hebrews 2:17-18.

When difficult times come, I glimpse how deep, how high, and how wide God’s love is for me.  And for you.  I rest in the blessing of His Presence, and learn another reason to trust Him.  Mother knew the blessing of silence to know God’s presence and power more fully.  She knew the understood the meaning of these lyrics:

My God and I will go for aye together, We’ll walk and talk just as good friends do;
This earth will pass, and with it common trifles, But God and I will go unendingly.

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Psalm 36:5.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21.
