December 12, 2019 – Luke 2:27-32

Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. Luke 2:25-26.

In the custom of the Jewish religious requirements, Joseph and Mary brought Baby Jesus to the temple to present Him to the Lord. While there, Simeon came.  The Holy Spirit revealed Simeon would see the Lord’s Anointed One before he died. Why did Simeon come to the temple that day and he saw Jesus in the arms of His parents. Simeon took Jesus and blessed God.

Simeon knew Jesus was sent by the Lord for the freedom for the Jews and the light and shining glory for both Gentiles and Jews.  Simeon told Mary that this child would bring salvation. And a sword will will pierce through your own soul, also, so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed. Luke 2:35.

How do you see each new baby that comes into your life? Is he a blessing or a curse? The Lord God Himself knitted each of us together in the womb of our mothers. God has a plan for each baby born.  Love like Jesus, and we will see the hearts of others first.

And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” Luke 2:27-32.
