August 9, 2016 – I Samuel 2:9-10
Then Hannah prayed, “My heart rejoices in the Lord! The Lord has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me. No one is holy like the Lord! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. I Samuel 2:1-2What happened that caused Hannah to pray a praise to God? Hannah had no children. She wanted a child to love. She knew God was the only one who could help her have a son and prayed to Him.Hannah did something unusual after Samuel was born. She gave her son back to God in thanksgiving after he was weaned. When he was about 2 years old, Hannah took little Samuel to the priest, Eli.There one night God spoke to Samuel, calling him by name. After three times, Samuel replied to God, Speak, I am listening. God spoke to Samuel often, as he became the prophet of the Lord. When a mother prays for you, God honors the prayer. And God protects those who are faithful to Him and those who depend on Him and trust Him.God is our rock and our shield. Even David, whom Samuel later anointed as King of Israel, knew – Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. Psalm 57:1How much do you love and walk with God? As much as Hannah?“He will protect his faithful ones, but the wicked will disappear in darkness. No one will succeed by strength alone. Those who fight against the Lord will be shattered. He thunders against them from heaven; the Lord judges throughout the earth. He gives power to his king; he increases the strength of his anointed one.” I Samuel 2:9-10
