August 8, 2016 – Psalm 30:4-5

Psalm30-3-4Sing to the Lord, all you godly ones! Praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalm 30:4-5Singing audibly or singing in your heart to an audience of One God is praising the Lord.  Singing a new song of the joy of the Lord brings us hope and peace. The last part of the scripture is so true.  How hopeless life often seems in the dark of the night, but His Joy comes in the morning. His hope springs eternal.  The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” Lamentations 3:22-24.When we know where our hope is, and we trust in Him, the noisy distractions of the world will not have a hold on us.The terrors and nightmares of the world lose their power to make us afraid when He is our help and our shield.  We learn to trust in His Holy Name.  He wraps his arms around us and gives us his unfailing love.  No earthly power is strong enough to separate us from our Lord God!  Who else offers us grace and peace?  Who else offers us a promised land to live in after death?  We are made in the image of God.  Who else forgives us when we sin?  Just God’s son, Jesus!

We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone. Psalm 33:20-22
