August 6, 2018 – Psalm 29:7-9
The voice of the Lord strikes with bolts of lightning. The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In his Temple, everyone shouts, “Glory!” Psalm 29:7-9.
Why is the voice of God important? Why is the spoken word important? God’s Voice created the world, His Voice created each of us. His Voice proclaimed Jesus as His Beloved Son. His Voice was heard by Hagar, Jacob, Moses, and the prophets spoke from God through the Holy Spirit.
The people who belong to God, shout “Glory!” to Him. Is it any wonder that lightning obeys? The power of His Voice twists large trees, and strips forests bare. His Son, Jesus, would not have been able to still the stormy winds or walk on water. When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39.
Doubting Jesus and His Father God – is like doubting the sun will come up. God created the sun. Doubting the Creator of every atom that makes up life all around us is not realistic. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. John 1:3.
When we believe, we are filled with strength and peace. In the same way, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” Galatians 3:6.
The Lord rules over the floodwaters. The Lord reigns as king forever. The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace. Psalm 29:10-11.
