August 18, 2017 – John 7:37
On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me!” John 7:37
When we visited a park, long ago before the advent of bottled water, my brothers and I became thirsty. We found a water fountain and ran for a refreshing drink of water. This is the moment when we realized there is a difference in water. This water had the taste of sulfur. We spit it out immediately with an awful aftertaste in our mouth…
Our world markets many kinds of living that does not satisfy, and there is only One Who can satisfy our thirst. Why can’t we find this water more easily? It has to do with the heart believing in Jesus and following Him. Believing and trusting in Jesus makes us children of God.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. I John 4:4.
What are the first of the fruit of the Spirit? Love, Joy, and Peace. Where you find these in the lives of around you, you will find Jesus. For Jesus exhibited the fruit of the Spirit throughout His life on earth. Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6.
What do you need or desire in your life the most? It is not what the world says you can’t live without. It has to do with your heart. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21.
“Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”John 7:38
