Since the day we heard these things about you, we have continued praying for you. This is what we pray: that God will make you completely sure of what he wants by giving you all the wisdom and spiritual understanding you need; that this will help you live in a way that brings honor to the Lord and pleases him in every way; that your life will produce good works of every kind and that you will grow in your knowledge of God. Colossians 1: 9-10
There is nothing as beautiful as hearing great things about others and praying for them. Every Dad and Mom love to hear good things about their children. They like to hear that they care for their younger brothers and sisters. They like to hear that they are honest and trustworthy. They like to hear that they are learning in school and are an example to other children. If parents like to hear this, how much more our Lord God smiles to see children living the way Jesus teaches every day.
Loving parents pray for their children and their children’s friends. Loving parents teach their children the joy of praying and living each day for the One true God.
Why all this God-like living? The next two verses tell us why. The God of strength strengthens us. The God of Patience will not let us give up when troubles come. We will be thankful for the little things and we have all God promises his holy people who live in the light! The Lord is our Light…and there are no secrets and no hiding of our thoughts and deeds from the Father and his Son, Jesus. Walk with the Lord and in his Light, and never give up!!!
…God will strengthen you with his own great power, so that you will be patient and not give up when troubles come. Then you will be happy and give thanks to the Father. He has made you able to have what he has promised to give all his holy people, who live in the light. Colossians 1:11-12
