April 2, 2019 – Psalm 1:1-2
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. Psalm 1:1-2.
What is the difference between happiness and joy? Someone once told me happiness doesn’t last, it has to be constantly renewed by worldly ‘treasure’, while joy is a constant remembrance of God and how He loves us.
Evidence of God’s love surrounds us…in His creation of this world. God makes the wind to blow, the waves of the sea to roll, the stars visiting us at night, and the sun awakens us in the morning. He lights our way with His Gifts of Unseen Joys, the changing of the seasons, the growing of food to feed us, and tasks that He prepares for us.
There is no end to God’s Love, or living, when we meditate on His Living Word. For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. I Peter 1:23.
Just as trees are planted near water to grow and bear fruit, we meditate on the life-giving water of His Word. “Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” John 7:38.
There is nothing more beautiful than a tree bearing fruit. And this is what we become when we rest and meditate on God’s Word. The fruit of the Holy Spirit pouring out love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control becomes our life.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Psalm 1:3.
