September 7, 2021 – Reflection on “Sounds of Heaven!”
One day, as I sat down to study and meditate on Psalm 92, I realized the usual traffic noises were non-existent. No holiday, just the peacefulness of silence. Then I began thinking of what sounds would I hear in Heaven. I gathered scriptures.
Then I found theses verses. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Genesis 1:3-4.
The creation of the world began. His Word was enough, His Word is powerful. Then I thought about the first few verses of Psalm 19.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Psalm 19:1-5.
When God speaks, those who are faithful, hear, and obey. Noah heard God speak, because he was faithful and listened to God and His instructions to build an Ark. Noah obeyed. The amazing thing is that the covering of pitch on the inside and outside of the ark, is the same meaning as atonement, making a wrong a right. God sealed Moses and his family inside the Ark at the beginning of the flood. Just as the gift of Jesus’ love and sacrifice is our atonement for our sins. Then we are sealed in safety to walk with God.
The creation we see proclaims the Power and Majesty of our all-knowing God, perfect in every way. Every time I see a sparrow, it tells me of His Goodness. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. Luke12:7.
For years, I dreaded and jumped at the sound of thunder. Then one day I found this praise psalm and rejoiced. Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness. The voice of the Lord is over the waters, the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters. Psalm 29:1-3. Now I simply worship God.
The act of praising God on earth is the theme of many of the Psalms. And a new song. For years, learning a new song became the delight of life. Oh, sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the Lord, bless His name; tell of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples! Psalm 96:103.
In Heaven, we will continue to praise God in Heaven with a new song. For our Lord, Jesus will make all things new.
Heaven will be new with new life and love. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And He who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also, He said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning, and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. Revelation 21:4-6.
What does this newness look like? We will have a new body that embodies the fruit of the spirit. No longer will lines be drawn to separate us from anger, hatred, worry, fear, or hate. The fruit of the Spirit makes Heaven-living like living under God’s rainbow.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things, there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23.
How will we know when the world will end? The sound of the Trumpet of God. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. I Thessalonians 15-17.
The promise of Jesus will be our reality. “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am. You may be also.” John 14:1-3.
When we meditate and praise our Lord, we see that this world and its angst is only for a short time, and Jesus is preparing ‘our place’ for an eternity of Joy and Peace. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes! With my lips, I declare all the rules of your mouth. In the way of your testimonies, I delight as much as in all riches. I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word. Psalm 119:10-16.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. I John 4:7-8.
When Jesus came to earth, He was announced with this message. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!” Luke 2:14.
Where does peace come from? Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. John 14:27-28.
This is my daily prayer, — Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14.
