September 6, 2021 – Genesis 6:12-15

And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits. Genesis 6:12-15.

When God speaks, it is for a purpose. He spoke the creation we see each day into existence. God gave the Israelites ten laws, and He has given us two commandments.  God sent Jesus, His Son, to deliver these commands. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.  And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  Matthew 22:37-39.

What if Noah decided he would ‘improve’ on God’s commands? Would he and his family have been saved?

Dear Father in Heaven, Help us to obey Your Commands to love with every breath You give us. I pray in the name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen.

I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 89:1.

Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks. For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die. Genesis 6:16-17.
