January 9, 2017 – Genesis 14:4-5

Then the Lord said to him, “No, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own who will be your heir.” Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” Genesis 15:4-5

The first six words is a clue of what is coming – will happen and it will be good.  When God said – let there be light, let there be life – it was done. All that was created was created by God speaking.  When God says the impossible will happen, it will be.  When  Abraham was 99 years old and Sarah was 90 years old, they were to have a child.  God is concerned about the heir of Abraham, that it not be Ishmael – and gave Abram a new name and the impossible promise of a son to be his heir, would come to pass.  Can you see Abraham, robes flowing, in the night, walking outside to see the stars with God.  “Count the stars if you can!”

Why did Abraham believe God?  Would you have believed?  Knowing God is true, just, and the One to follow is mighty knowledge.  It is saving knowledge from His Heart to ours.  No questions, no doubts, and singleness of mind of faith in God is a state of glorious peace and joy.Instead of laughing, as Sarah did at the idea of a baby at her age, Abraham led the way, the spiritual leader of his family-to-be.  The Lord counted Abraham as righteous because of his heart-deep faith.

Now, we are adopted into God’s Family through believing in and living for Jesus. We are God’s heirs and children of God!  And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you. Galatians 3:29.  So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help. Isaiah 30:18

And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith. Genesis 15:6
