The Wonder of His Love

I sit here in the quiet, ready to write and listening to the strains of My Tribute  by Andrae Crouch. Each time the lyrics move me to Thanksgiving and Praise.  He understood the magnificence and wonder of God’s Love.  His Faithful Love that endures forever.  Just yesterday I played this song for my husband, diagnosed 4 years ago with dementia.  Often the only way to reach my husband now is through music that expresses praise to God and His great love.  And I am so thankful for this way to our Heavenly Father.

Recently I read this quote on Facebook – Music speaks what cannot be expressed through words.  I am adding, but only through the heart!
When I think of all the songs I have sung, The Lord’s Prayer, The Lord is My Salvation, I am Satisfied with Jesus, Green Pastures, Jesu Bambino, Silent Night, It is Well, Goin’ Home, The Old Rugged Cross, This is My Story, and many more and then when I read the following verse, music become more precious to me.

For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears.  He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.  Zephaniah 3:17
I listen for God’s Song of Love through His messengers in the wind, the rain, the brilliance of warm sunshine and silver light of the moon at night.  The wind has a voice all its own.  As my husband and I discussed this, he remembered he could understand the different ‘moo’s’ of a cow, he told me when he was a rancher.
Never has there ever been a more God-filled songwriter than David, the Shepherd Boy, who killed the giant Goliath, the boy who became King!  He sang to God a song- from his heart to the heart of God: David sang this song to the Lord on the day the Lord rescued him from all his enemies and from Saul.  He sang: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence. 2 Samuel 22:1-3.
David knew his steady Rock.  He knew the Truth!  The Reality of this world and David knew how much God loved him.
Moses and the people of Israel sang to God.  It was a song of deliverance from their slavery in Egypt.  It celebrated their escape from the soldiers on chariots who chased after them to bring back laborer-prisoners to Egypt.  God had other plans when the Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and charioteers were catching up with them.  God told Moses, Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea and divide the waters. Moses did so, and the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground with walls of water on each side.  When the Egyptians followed to the middle of the Red Sea, God released the walls of water.
Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord: “I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; he has hurled both horse and rider into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him— my father’s God, and I will exalt him!  The Lord is a warrior; Yahweh is his name!  Pharaoh’s chariots and the army he has hurled into the sea. The finest of Pharaoh’s officers are drowned in the Red Sea. Exodus 15:1-5
As I think of the many songs that touch my heart, and draw me back to focus on the One who created me and lives with me.  I know who sends the Holy Spirit, through Jesus to live in me, I praise Him.  I rejoice as hope and love spring from my heart.
What is my song of praise to God?  How do I compose this masterpiece of a composition?  First, I realize that we don’t leave God in Church when we leave – He is with us, He loves us, and we have a relationship with Him.  No matter where we are, no matter what our skin color, no matter what our language is, He waits for us to come to Him.  He never gives up. His Son Jesus loves us so much and He paid the price on the cross for us to be able to walk with God.  The Holy Spirit is our comforter, guide and teacher that Jesus sends to dwell in our bodies.  This Trinity of Love knows our every thought and deed and word.  They know the pain and the suffering and longings that come to each of us. Jesus experienced more than we ever shall.  We matter to God.  Our song of praise to God is one of Thankfulness, giving Him the glory!
Sing a new song of praise to him; play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy. Psalm 33:3
He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:3
But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. Psalm 42:8
These words created by Jimmy Owens:
Tell me, is it any wonder that I love HimWhen you consider all He’s done for me?  And is it any wonder that I want to do His willAnd let His light shine out for all to see?  And is it any wonder that I praise himEach time I think of how He’s set me free?  And is it any wonder that I’ve given Him my heart,When Jesus freely gave His life for me?
