My God is Able
“And God is able to make all grace abound to you so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8.
The four words, My God is Able, is written all through His Word. It begins with the first verse of Genesis, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
We use the word ‘create’ as a beginning of a project, using a prescribed number of tools and products, with written plans and hopeful pictures of how it will all come together. The two verses are overwhelming to us. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Nothing is there, and God’s Spirit did not leave. What would He do? Then God spoke in Verse 3-5, And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
God SAID and light called Day is. And the Light was good. When Jesus came in the fullness of time, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” John 8:12. Is this why God created Light first to point us to His Son, Jesus?
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him, all things hold together. Colossians1:15-17.
God layered His purpose with many facets in creating the Heavens and Earth. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. Ephesians 1:3-4.
We were not known, yet we were chosen to be holy and blameless before Him and to receive spiritual blessings and inheritance.
How often now people desire to be refreshed, and rush to the beach, to the riverside, climb a mountain, go to see flowers, see wild animals, and what they really desire is a refreshment from the God who created all these things. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Psalm 34:8.
Do you know the stories of Abraham (Genesis 17- 26:5) because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws… through many generations).
Jonah, the reluctant missionary, found himself in the belly of a big fish (the book of Jonah) when he refused to follow God’s command to go.
Daniel and his companions were taken captive and delivered from the den of lions, Daniel 6:26-27 – I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for He is the living God, enduring forever; His kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end. He delivers and rescues; He works signs and wonders in heaven, and on earth, He who has saved Daniel. His companions, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were taken before the King because they did not worship the golden image. They answered, “If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” Daniel 3:17-18.
The Children of Israel, chosen people of God, were kept in slavery for over 400 years, and then after 10 plagues brought by God, they travel to the Red Sea as God led them with the Egyptians in pursuit. Then God told Moses to tell His people, “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:14. And God was glorified.
The New Testament is filled the miracles of Jesus as He turned nature’s laws inside out. He healed the lame, the blind, calmed the sea, and raised the dead. He walked on water, fed the hungry, called the little children to Him, and He forgave sins. Why all these miracles? When Jesus learned His friend Lazarus was sick, He waited to go to the side of Lazarus until after he died. He explained to the disciples why: But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” John 11:4.
Alpha, the first Greek-letter of the alphabet, and Omega is the last. This is another name for the Lord God. It is used three times in Revelation.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 21:6-7.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Revelation 22:13-14.
This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant. The former priests were many in number because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but He holds His priesthood permanently because He
continues forever. Consequently, He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:22-25.
He’s able, He’s able, I know He’s able, I know my Lord is able to carry me through.
