May 22, 2020 – Philippians 1:6-7
And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. Philippians 1:6-7.
The Apostle Paul wrote these words after experiencing ship wrecks, imprisonment, stoned, beaten with rods, hunger, thirst, and cold as recorded in 2 Corinthians 11:24-31.
Paul continues in prayer for the followers of Christ Jesus, that our love grows more and more in wisdom and insight. When Jesus comes again, that we stand pure and blameless…filled with the fruit of righteousness.
This fruit of right-living only ripens through the glory of Jesus. Even in prison told the story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. John 15:12-13.
In the beginning God, who is the same from the beginning, and gave us His love. And then God heaped love upon love for our redemption.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16.
For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:8-11.
