March 30, 2016 – Romans 1:16

Romans1-16For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16What is the gospel?  The Good News.  The straight and narrow way that God made just for us.  The way God has to make us righteous, pure and holy so we may come into His Presence.  The Gospel is a gift that comes by faith, by believing. The old hymn I remember singing as a child before I knew what the word trust means…Trust and obey, For there’s no other way – To be happy in Jesus, But to trust and obey. What verses in His Word tell us about the Good News? The Good News is about God’s One and Only Son, Jesus.

“For this is how God loved the world: “He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16….In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line,  and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.   Romans 1:3-4.Who do you trust with your life?  Who do you believe?  Who is gentle and kind?  Who loves us with unconditional forgiveness when we follow Him?  Who else is our faithful Rock, our Truth, our Life and our Way?  Who else can we follow?“Precious Lord, take my hand, Lead me on, let me stand, I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m alone, Through the storm, through the night, Lead me on to the light, Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home!”
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” Romans 1:17
