March 10, 2020 – Romans 10:14-15
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Romans 10:14-15.
When God created man in the image of God, did He realize His words of Love and Salvation would travel on the feet He created? No wonder the feet of those to tell others are considered beautiful. Is it any wonder that in the time of the apostles the washing of the dust from the feet was considered an act of hospitality?
Even Jesus walked, carrying the cross to his death on his feet. And doing so, fulfilled prophecy and God’s Grace brought to the world. God made a covenant with Abraham, beginning a journey on his feet walking to Canaan, the promised Land. The Lord came to Abraham, and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.” Genesis 17:1-2. The Israelites left Egypt and traveled on their feet for 40 years.
Faith is not something we do, but our response to God, after we hear the word of Christ. Faith is a result of hearing the Word of God. Do we hear and obey, the same word from God “Walk before me and be blameless!”
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing and hearing through the word of Christ. But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for “Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.” Romans 10:16-18.
