November 15, 2019 – 2 Corinthians 5:1-2

For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling. 2 Corinthians 5:1-2.

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”  Luke 2:10.  These words brought good news echoing down through the ages, but first to the shepherds.

How often, when we move to another place on earth, there is a period of adjustment, laughingly called ‘settling in.’ But do we ever ‘settle?’  Jesus has a greater plan.  He told us through John 14:1-3. “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

How can we be of good courage? How can we know Joy in the Lord?  By trusting in God who sent Jesus and by pleasing Him in the way we walk with Him each day. Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.  Proverbs 3:5.

So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please Him. 2 Corinthians 5:6-9.
