September 3, 2019 – Psalm 5:7-8

But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house.  I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.  Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.  Psalm 5:7-8.

How often do we praise God for His Great Love and bow down before Him?  Exodus 32 contains these words, And the Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people.  Those who are unwilling to bow down in adoration and worship before the Lord.  It begins early in life, during the ‘No’ stage of a child’s life, this rebellion against authority.

It is when we understand the teachings of Jesus do we know true Blessedness. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Matthew 5:6. When we find righteousness to be desired more than wickedness, will we discover the joy of God’s ‘straight way.’

As a child becomes fearful and rushes to his mother for refuge, we are before God.  God gathers us into His protective arms.  Your Name is like an umbrella of love.  Have you ever wondered why the first words of a child are Daddy and Momma?  So it is when we realize the beauty and preciousness of our Lord God. But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.  John 1:12.

Jesus covers us like a shield and blesses those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love Your name may exult in you.  For You bless the righteous, O Lord; You cover him with favor as with a shield.  Psalm 5:11-12.
