September 2, 2019 – Psalm 3:3-4

But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. I cried aloud to the Lord, and He answered me from His holy hill. Psalm 3:3-4.

Just as a shepherd guards and leads his sheep, so it is God the Father leads us. He chose David his servant  and took him from the sheepfolds;
 from following the nursing ewes he brought him to shepherd Jacob his people, Israel his inheritance. Psalm 78:70-71.

Later, Jesus gave us his purpose in life and said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep”  John 10:11. God sent His Son.

He sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever.  Holy and awesome is His Name!  Psalm 111:9.  We have hope in the Lord.  Following Him, gives us  ‘forever hope’ beyond any provided by the world.  A hope that provides redemption from the only thing that can separate us from joy and peace and love.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!  Psalm 111:10.  Joy in the Lord comes from the Scriptures – and knowing Salvation, from the angst of the world, belongs only to God.

His blessings arise from things we can not buy and living according to the blessings of the fruit of the Spirit. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  Galatians 5:22-23

Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.  Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be on your people! Psalm 3: 7-8
