November 13, 2015 – Psalm 29:10-11

Psalm29-10-11The Lord sat enthroned at the Flood, And the Lord sits as King forever. The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.  Psalm 29:10-11The 29th Psalm speaks of the power of the voice of the Lord, with promises of strength and the blessing of peace for His people. The question is, do we expect strength and peace without being His people?  The next question is, How do we become His people?  In another Psalm, we have the answer. The art of hearing what God the Lord will speak and knowing in our hearts what He says makes the difference.  We hear lots of things that travel through our heads.  It is a difference between hearing – like a commercial on TV- and knowing which means hearing and obeying the truth of what is heard deep within.  Knowing with your heart means it becomes a part of us.  Knowing with the heart means you can believe the truth not just for now, but for an eternity. Is there a choice?  What does, But let them not turn back to folly….meaning returning to their foolish ways.  Yes, we can return back to living in folly, foolish ways.  It is a choice!  A matter of life or choosing death for an eternity. The question is always before us?  Will we hear God’s voice or will we choose to ignore it?  Each day we are faced with the choices – and it depends on whether we hear God’s voice or not.  Truth or a lie?  Kindness or revenge?  Love or hate?  Joy or tears?  Peace or strife?  Encourage or jealousy?  Faith or disbelieve?

I will hear what God the Lord will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly. Psalm 85:8
