June 5, 2019 – Psalm 50:3-4

Our God comes; He does not keep silence; before Him is a devouring fire, around Him a mighty tempest. He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people: Psalm 50:3-4.

Often we hear rumbles and crashes of thunder. And we are frightened for with loud sudden noise we fear the worse. As a prelude to the Israelites leaving their captivity in Egypt there were plagues.  Exodus 9:23-24, Then Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt. There was hail and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail, very heavy hail, such as had never been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 

Our God is not silent. But this one thing we know, when we praise our God and call on Him in our troubles, He will deliver us and glorify us.  

When Noah built the ARK, an impossible task for man, God protected Noah and His Family. When God parted the Red Sea and delivered the Children of Israel from impending death. The loud clamor of the chariots, silenced by the Hand of God, in the waters of the Red Sea. 

Then God sent Jesus to be our sacrifice, to deliver us from evil.  Often we turn away from God’s deliverance and seek our own way.  

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 5-6.

Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” Psalm 50:14-15.
