April 29, 2019 – James 4:4b-6
Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, He yearns jealously over the spirit that He has made to dwell in us, but He gives more grace. Therefore it says, God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. James 4:4b-6.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12. A man who does not listen and learn from God, stumbles in the darkness of this world.
Do not contend with a man for no reason, when he has done you no harm. Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways. Proverbs 3:30-31. Violence comes from anger in a man’s heart and darkens his world. How can we resist such a man who spreads evil?
Resist evil by submitting your thoughts, your actions, your words to the Lord. Live in His Presence every moment of the time we have on earth. When we draw near to God, forgiven through Jesus Christ, our hearts are ready to worship in spirit and truth.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Proverbs 3:5-8
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:7-8.
