August 10, 2015 – Proverbs 23:

Proverbs23-4-5Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle. Proverbs 23:4-5An eagle spreading his wings in flight is a beautiful vision of strength and beauty.  Yet if our wants exceed our needs, wealth takes wings and flies away. Such a strong picture of the result of ‘impulse- buying’ and the lack of wisdom. There is another way.  A beautiful way, when we trust God for everything, from food, drink and the clothes we wear.  The picture Jesus paints of birds being cared for by our Heavenly Father gives us that satisfied feeling knowing that God loves even the birds He created.  They sing their praises for His Care daily and there is nothing more beautiful on a beautiful summer day than to hear songs of birds. We are worth much more.  Our lives do not depend on worrying but trusting our Heavenly Father.  The One who gave us life will sustain us when we trust him.  Worry does not help.  In Proverbs 12:25 it is written —Worry weighs a person down;an encouraging word cheers a person up.  Philippians 4:6 gives the true worry-killer.  Prayer and Praise. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Another verse is a favorite of mine…..that is so true. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”  Matthew 6:34.

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Matthew 6:25-26
