July 31, 2015 – Genesis 6:8-9

But Noah found favor with the Lord. This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. Genesis 6:8-9Righteous, blameless, walked in close fellowship with God.  That describes Noah.  This is how Noah found favor with God.  He lived a holy life, even as it is written in I Thessalonians 4:7-8: God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.How would someone describe our relationship with God?  Do we want to take control over our lives, or give the control to the One who made us?  The One who loves us so much He gave us Jesus, his one and only son.Rejection of God or acceptance.  It is a matter of choosing who our Master is – God or Satan.  There is no middle ground. It is a matter of choosing minute by minute.  Holy living can only be ours through moment by moment awareness of God.  When we fail, we have confession, repentance and forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.Confirmation from God is no-matter-what, God will not destroy all mankind and animals.  God’s confirmation comes through placing a rainbow that appears on God’s bulletin board in the sky.  Sometimes he underlines his confirmation-promise with a double rainbow using brilliant colors at his command.  The flood came when Noah was 600 years old, approximately 4,359 years ago.  The timeline of life on earth continues, God’s love stays the same. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.  Hebrews 13:8Look for the rainbow in the sky, it is put there so that we can have confidence and trust God completely.Then God told Noah and his sons, “I hereby confirm my covenant with you and your descendants, and with all the animals that were on the boat with you—the birds, the livestock, and all the wild animals—every living creature on earth. Yes, I am confirming my covenant with you. Never again will flood waters kill all living creatures; never again will a flood destroy the earth.” Genesis 9:8-11
