June 6, 2015 – Psalm 14:2
The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. Psalm 14:2Have you looked up into the Heavens to face The Lord as he looks down on His Children? Just knowing He is watching brings peace.Last week as I hastened through the aisles at the grocery store, I saw a little girl, almost 3 years old who smiled at me. How could I do anything but smile back? There was a recognition of the spirit, for we did not know each other. We waved and smiled. As I turned, ready to go, I raised my hand and this tiny girl ‘high-fived’ me. We understood each other with soundless communication.Imagine God’s reaction when we look up and reach out our hands to Him. God looks and waits for someone who seeks after Him and spiritually ‘high-five’ our awesome God.The verses prior to verse 33, contains encouragement and understanding how God takes care of our daily needs — food and clothing. He clothes the lilies of the field and feeds the birds who do not plant or harvest. Verse 33 then gives us how we can be sure…of a sure thing…that God will take care of us. First, we are to seek. A popular leadership book proclaimed, “First things first!” God has a first for us as well. Seek Him and all that is Him! The promise is that all these things are added to you. Then comes the verse that always makes me smile, that today I would say, Don’t worry — be happy! Those words spell ‘trust’ in capital letters. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
