May 13, 2015 – Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8Inconsistency in our lives is consistent. What we want one day changes the next. In our world, circumstances and situations change at a rapid pace in jobs, goals and views. We long for something or someone we can depend on. Even the weather is in a constant change just as our mood is different from one moment to the next. That someone that we search for is Jesus. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Is this why we question Him? Is this why we question His Father? Is this why we question the message of love? God is love…and yet we hate. God forgives….and yet we hold grudges that turn into wars. Jesus said “I am the Truth,” and yet we lie to each other and ourselves. Our Father God gives us life and we kill…passing laws to make it legal to kill babies. What does it take for us to honor Jesus and to submit to God? What does it take to quell our rebellious spirit? What does it take to submit to our shepherd who through his sacrifice will equip us with everything good? When will we be ready to do His will and let us become pleasing in His sight? We have this one brief life to submit and truly be His. And why? We long to bow down and give our souls, our spirit, our very essence to be His, so that we will taste of the forever glory that can be ours through Jesus Christ. We desire the sameness of love, joy and peace that loving God our Father and the Great Shepherd have ready for us. We invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts to guide us and teach us to live forever. Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21
