June 25, 2018 – I Peter 2:9

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light. I Peter 2:9.

We carry in our pockets, slips of paper that give our names and earthly information.  We call this our identification in this world.  This gives us entrance to participate in earthly activities.  We choose the teams, the alma maters, and what we choose to believe.

Or did we really choose?  Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.  God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.  Ephesians 1:4-5.

How often our lives reflect the song, “I did it my way!”  The only wise choice we can make in this world is to choose ‘His Way‘, the way of Lord Jesus.  Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  Matthew 11:28-29.

Many others have said, Follow me. Yet there is only one to follow, trust, and love.  It is Jesus! God gave him the name above all other names.  Philippians 2:10-11…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

“Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.” I Peter 2:10.
