April 20, 2018 – 2 Peter 3:3-6
They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then He used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. 2 Peter 3:3-6.
We want to know the When of Jesus’ return. We want to know the How! And Matthew 24 shows us it will not be easy. It will take a steady faith His words are true, He WILL return. Matthew 24:30-31 – And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
The lyrics of this hymn gives us hope and promise – The sky shall unfold…Preparing His entrance
The stars shall applaud Him…With thunders of praise. The sweet light in His eyes, shall enhance those awaiting…And we shall behold Him, then face to face.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” I Corinthians 2:9.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.
And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight. 2 Peter 3:14
