April 13, 2015-John 3:17
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12Emblazon the words across the sky — Jesus Saves. There is no other name under heaven given to men….by which we are saved. Saved? Saved from what? Saved from ourselves and our constant struggle with sin. Sin that seems so right – rationalized right. My husband enjoys watching Leave it to Beaver in his dementia state of mind. So often I am reminded how easy it is to go astray through the mind gymnastics of Larry and Gilbert on the show. Beaver wants to do what is right, but right becomes warped into wrong through the counsel of his two friends. It’s the every day choices we make that speak with intense volume just what our values and beliefs are. What do we talk about? How do we talk? What do we do when there is an emergency, or a need? The next question is, in the last sentence of this next scripture? Can we be recognized as being with Jesus? What made the boldness so evident to others? Peter and John knew the Risen Jesus. Jesus was the focus of their lives and shared His Love. They are still sharing through their writing in God’s Word for us. Who Jesus is, is bigger than any of us — He is our salvation and our life. He is our reason for being on earth – to worship Him. When we understand that one truth, our life takes on new meaning and delight. Every day chores take on new meaning. Everyone that we meet is a bridge we can build to help them know Jesus.I ask questions each day, am I a bridge to Jesus or a dead-end? Do I delight in Jesus no matter what I must do? Am I living for the return of Jesus or for conquests in this world? Where is my Hope? Where is my Joy? Where do I find Peace? Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.
