January 11, 2018 – James 1:5-6
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. James 1:5-6.
No living person can deny the wisdom and power of God, the Creator who made the world and knew we were, before we were born. With His glory, power, and far reaching love, why would we wish to honor or worship any man? There is no such thing as ‘Jesus AND’ any other person or object.
Divided loyalty is worshiping something other than Jesus and is described as the sea in a fierce storm, tossed by wind. The only opportunity I have ever known to understand God’s Power was to stand ankle deep in the Pacific Ocean. It felt as if all Creation pulled at me. I knew God’s power in that moment. Mark 4:39 tells us — When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.
How could Jesus do this? He IS the Son of God! He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. John 1:10. Jesus is One with the Father God. When we are One with Jesus, we are loyal to God. When everything we think, do, and say is in the Name of Jesus, we are One with Jesus as Jesus is One with God.
Our purpose in this world is to glorify our Lord God. Who will not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous deeds have been revealed. Revelation 15:4.
A Hillsong song contains these words: “Lift up our eyes, see the King has come – Light of the world reaching out for us. There is no other name – Jesus Christ our God.”
Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do. James 1:7-8
