Matthew11-28Then Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29Humble + Gentle at Heart = Rest for your Souls.  A mathematical theorem or heart deep truism.  The answer in either case is Jesus.  Being yoked is defined as ‘a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plow or cart that they are to pull.’  Can you imagine being yoked with Jesus and pulling with Him?  Pulling, in this case, has to do with teaching and walking the walk.  Once we are ‘yoked’ with Jesus, we must follow his leading and carry our part of the load.  We carry our part with humility and gentleness of heart.  We don’t pull against the yoke, and declare it too difficult.  Can you imagine the wearing of the yoke on your heart and soul and you pull with Jesus?  It will hurt our very inner being.  It will chaff.  It will rub us raw, and yet, the weight of our yoke bring the promise of resurrection and life.Jesus is sitting on the right hand of God himself!  Jesus has shown us the resurrection and the life awaiting each one of us, even after dying.  Even though we cannot see him at the present, He lives triumphantly.Let us willingly wear the yoke with Jesus with joy, thanksgiving and humbleness.  For in doing so, others will know and see the glory of God through our humility and faithfulness in ‘pulling in the yoke’.

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.” John 11:25
