February 2, 2017 – Matthew 6:9-10

Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:9-10Jesus taught his disciples a prayer.  The first two words, Our Father, fill me with joy and thanksgiving.  He belongs to us and knows more than we ever will.  Do you remember when you thought your Dad knew everything?  Me, too.  Our Father in Heaven knows everything about us. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Psalm 139:4-5We know where our Father in Heaven is. We are told to keep His Name Holy. We do this by loving Him so much, we will not hurt him by speaking ugly words, using his name.  We thoughtlessly speak words in anger, or think angry thoughts. By controlling this one aspect, we begin to show love to others as well!It isn’t our will, it is His will that will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. How do we do this?  Seek the kingdom of God, live righteously, and don’t worry.  This isn’t a game of hide and seek with God.  It isn’t a game at all.  It is the way to live life if we want joy and peace and most of all, a big helping of love.It is so easy to be caught in the worry trap.  When it grows dark, our thoughts grow dark, too. We worry about tomorrow, whether what to eat or how we will do a difficult job the next day.  Pray, Dear Father in Heaven, please take this worry from me and give me peace. Your love is all that I need.  Trusting God in all things is ‘seeking the Kingdom of God’. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.  Psalm 34:19

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:33-34
