September 6, 2016 – I Thessalonians 5:23

IThessalonians5-23Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. I Thessalonians 5:23This one verse became a prayer for me today.  May the God of peace make me holy in every way, and my all spirit, soul and body be kept blameless until Jesus comes to earth the second time.  God is of Peace — not chaos, war or division.  He is single-minded in peace.  He wants me holy in every way — I don’t pick and choose or excuse.  My spirit, soul and body is to be kept blameless until Jesus comes.Suddenly I recall Matthew 22:37-38 –  Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.   Impossible!  Can’t be done!  You don’t know me, God!  Yes, God knows each of us as He created us, and He loves us.  He gave us the power to choose.  This is why He sent His Son to earth, die for our sins, and be raised to walk again and go to His Father.  When Jesus did this, He left the Holy Spirit within us to lead us and guide us in living holy lives. How can we be sure this is so?  God is faithful, constant, always with us.  How do I know?  As sure as there is rain, as sure as the sun comes up in the east, as sure as the seasons roll by, this is so.God is truth, and often Jesus said, I tell you the truth.  In John 14:6, Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful. I Thessalonians 5:24
