May 10, 2016 – I John 1:5-6
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. I John 1:5-6When the lights go out in our world, we just think the electricity bill hasn’t been paid. But when the spiritual light is dimmed in our life, we often turn to world answers to ‘lighten up’.We forget that we are living in a controlled-world created by God. Our desire for the world’s pleasures and comfort dims God’s light in our lives. An eviction notice for Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden was swift and direct. All Adam and Eve wanted was to have the power and control God had, instead of abiding in fellowship of love with God. Found a link to a sermon that Billy Graham once preached today. Christ, the Ark of Safety. Just as God gave Noah and his family means of survival, He also gives us Jesus Christ as our salvation and forgiveness of sins, through the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.Fellowship, the blessing of loving one another, without anger, comparison or envy, even as Jesus loves us, is the greatest joy in this world. Jesus is our Hope, our Light, the Way and the Truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
