May 9, 2016 – I John 1:1-2

I-John1-1-2We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us. I John 1:1-2

John is proclaiming and testifying to us what he saw.  He saw Jesus with his own eyes.  He heard Him. Jesus is the Word of Life.  He is Eternal Life.  He touched Jesus.  Jesus was from the beginning.  Even the BC’s and AD’s are not written in the Bible but mean Before Christ and AD which is Medieval Latin for Anno Domini, which means in the year of the Lord or is in the year of our Lord.  AD are used to label or number years in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. Jesus was from the beginning, yet born in flesh at beginning of AD.  For He IS the SON of God, WHO is in the beginning. Genesis 1:1.

John speaks for the disciples as he says we have fellowship with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.  There is Joy in the Fellowship with Him.  And He with us.  Fellowship comes from the Greek word – Koinonia. “Fellowship is never passive in the meaning of koinonia, it is always linked to action, not just being together, but also doing together.” (From gotquestions.org/koinonia.html )- I John 3:11 – For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.  Many other scriptures to enlarge understand are written here.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.  2 Corinthians 13:14.  This is fellowship, this is God’s Love bestowed (given as a gift from God) on us that we may love one another.
We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy. I John 1:3-4
